Recently my iMac has been having issues. I think Mike jinxed it. He thinks I’m always on the computer and said “I hope that computer takes a ^$#@ “ Well, it did. For some reason, the computer was not recognizing the hard drive and operating system. It was intermittent. So, it is now over at Apple getting replaced under warranty (thank goodness!).
During this past week being computer-less has me realize that Mike might have some truth to “I’m always on the computer”… seems sometimes, being TOO “connected” can be a bad thing. It’s funny how much we come to rely on technology sometimes. I would come home and immediately log on to the computer—check email, etc. I would wake up—same thing. It was a vicious cycle. I never realized this until this week.
The first day, I sat on the couch and Mike looked at me and said “You are so lost without that thing aren’t you?” I had to laugh and agree. I am. So—this week, I am taking to my advantage and getting AWAY from technology. You know, pulling out the good ole YELLOW PAGES (yea, remember THOSE) to look businesses up…. READING my books more….. playing with the dogs…. I seem to actually have more time now (go figure).
Reminds me of when I was living at home and the microwave broke. I called my mom at work and had asked her how I was supposed to make Ravioli’s (Chef Boyardee) in a can without the microwave. She laughed and said on the stove. I had no clue. Wow.
rethink: What is keeping you from life?
