WEST nile info.

OK…. Here’s what they say:

The incubation period (the time from infection to the development of symptoms) is five to 15 days  (YUP, I got bit the 17th — my birthday)

Mild infections are common with the West Nile virus. Symptoms of a mild infection include

  • Fever.   (I dont have that)
  • Headache, body aches, or pain in your eyes.   (CHECK)
  • Skin rash (occasionally).   (don’t have that either)
  • Feeling tired.  (DEFINITE check)
  • Not feeling hungry.  (check)
  • Feeling sick to your stomach or throwing up.  (nope, not me)
  • Swollen glands (lymph nodes) (possibly).   (DEFINITE YES HERE)

Most people who have the mild form of West Nile virus have a fever for 5 days, a headache for 10 days, and feel tired for more than a month.4

More severe infections involving the brain and spinal cord may cause:

  • Headache.
  • High fever.
  • Stiff neck.
  • Disorientation.
  • Reduced attention to surroundings.
  • Tremors and convulsions.
  • Muscle weakness or paralysis.
  • Coma.

(Hmm…possibly why I’m all out of whack on my sleep???)   I guess maybe I should make an appointment to go see my doctor?  Or do you think I’m over-reacting?  I know there were a bunch of birds dead by my moms house….and I know the West Nile is in her area (Los Angeles County)…

UGH!!!!!!!
