WEST nile info.
OK…. Here’s what they say:
The incubation period (the time from infection to the development of symptoms) is five to 15 days (YUP, I got bit the 17th — my birthday)
Mild infections are common with the West Nile virus. Symptoms of a mild infection include
- Fever. (I dont have that)
- Headache, body aches, or pain in your eyes. (CHECK)
- Skin rash (occasionally). (don’t have that either)
- Feeling tired. (DEFINITE check)
- Not feeling hungry. (check)
- Feeling sick to your stomach or throwing up. (nope, not me)
- Swollen glands (lymph nodes) (possibly). (DEFINITE YES HERE)
Most people who have the mild form of West Nile virus have a fever for 5 days, a headache for 10 days, and feel tired for more than a month.4
More severe infections involving the brain and spinal cord may cause:
- Headache.
- High fever.
- Stiff neck.
- Disorientation.
- Reduced attention to surroundings.
- Tremors and convulsions.
- Muscle weakness or paralysis.
- Coma.
(Hmm…possibly why I’m all out of whack on my sleep???) I guess maybe I should make an appointment to go see my doctor? Or do you think I’m over-reacting? I know there were a bunch of birds dead by my moms house….and I know the West Nile is in her area (Los Angeles County)…
UGH!!!!!!!
